Completed Project: Butterick 4228
Well, it's done! This was a fun pattern to sew and I'm quite pleased with the result. If you've been following along, you know that I did a wearable muslin of the top of this pattern last month. I wanted to be sure that the top would fit. Here it is.
I made the entire dress from lavender linen. I love linen! The hand, the drape, the fact that it's a natural fiber, the ease of sewing! Well, everything about it! Here's the result.
The skirt will go with either top nicely. Here's a dtetail pic of the little front vent on the linen top.
I would definitely consider making this ensemble again. It was a very easy pattern and I love the way it came out. I'm sure I'll be wearing it a lot this summer. Thanks, as always for peeking, and your comments are always welcomed.

Looks great - love the fabric. you'll have to model it for us!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sue! Yes, I need to find a willing photographer...
DeleteI love the detail on the bustline - it really gives it a nice vintage look. It's a great idea to make a wearable muslin in a fabric that can be worn with the finished skirt. Very clever. x
ReplyDeleteMany thanks. Serendipity on the first top. It was made from fabric harvested from one of those thrift store jumpers I'm always restyling. The colors happened to be just right!
DeleteI'm blog meandering this morning and stumbled upon you. This ensemble is gorgeous. Love the color, and that it's in linen is just the icing on the cake.
ReplyDeleteWell, thank you for meandering by! And thanks for your kind thoughts on my project.
DeleteLove the outfit - although its quite a "plain and simple" pattern, it is so stylish and elegant - I think those ones are often the best. Well done!
ReplyDeleteSometimes plain really is the most elegant. I plan to wear a brooch, or maybe pearls with it.
Deletelove this. love linen, love lavender, love all of it :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm pretty happy with it. On to the next project!
DeleteSo pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I plan to wear it soon.
DeleteLovely!! Can't wait to see it on you! Stopping by from Sew Country Chick and your newest follower.
ReplyDeleteHere is what I shared: http://craftybrooklynarmywife.blogspot.ca/2012/06/kids-roll-up-nap-blanket.html
Thank you, and thanks for following... Following you back!
DeleteI'd love to see this on you too, Dee! Linen is probably my favorite fabric for summer too.I love the detail on the vent. What is that stitch called?
ReplyDeleteIt's a diamond stitch, included on my machine. I know I need to model my stuff - I need to get a camera with a timer and a tripod, or a willing family member to take photos!
